All iPads Whats better for productivity

Hey guys first time buyer of apple products just got a 15 inch macbook for college and music production. But i dont want to lug it to classs so im thinking about an air, ipad4, ipad mini or microsoft surface. What do you guys recommend for sweet on the go travel, big battery life , and od power. I am on trains a lot and near wifi s lot when im not i justt tether from my phone.

I want to make the right choiice but i dont want rhe ipadt4 to be outdated in just 4 months from now. Any suggestions ? I like how the surface has micro sd

So you bought a 2000$ laptop for college and you're considering buying a 1000$ smaller laptop to lug around? You might consider selling your 15inch to buy a MacBook Air. Or just buy an iPad.
