What's difference between mid and late 2011 iMacs?

I'm looking at getting a refurb iMac, rather than a new iMac.

I currently have a Alu 2007 C2D 2GHz iMac, and think either of the newer iMacs will be a decent upgrade.

But I've noticed that there was a mid and late edition of the 2011 iMacs. What are the differences between the them? Anything, substantial?

The late 2011 iMac was i3 iMac for educational fields only. The i3 is also not as fast as the i5 or i7: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/index-imac.html

So the mid 2011 iMac is the last one before the new thinner iMacs?

How much were they new? In UK? A 21.5" i5 2.5GHz is £820, unsure wether to get this or new thin iMac.

I have a 2011 iMac 21.5" and its a pretty good machine with a quad core CPU and 4 RAM slots (so I can upgrade the RAM myself) what it does lack over the new iMac's is USB3.

For the other features of the new iMac's...I'll wait until I see one in person (but I got my 2011 for only $1,050 and used the RAM from my 13" MBP to upgrade both machines to 8Gb RAM.

Yup, i3, education model. Funny thing is I knew more about that then the Apple rep did on chat and I'm a Mac newbie at that. Gotta love everymac.com
