Reading from the standard HD (5400 RPM SATA I think it is) that came with the Power Mac G5, or from a 7200 RPM SATA My Book over USB 2.0?

I'm watching a video if it makes a difference.

That is to say, the internal is by far the faster of the two.

Are you sure your G5's drive is 5400 RPM? Most desktop drives are 7200, and I can't see Apple putting anything less in that beast of a machine.

Actually, I'm not sure. I assumed it was, since it's old(ish)
