What's going on at Apple?

This must be the longest we've went without a point update to iOS. Is it because they're working flat out on the next iOS 7, or just sheer laziness? Glaring bugs have been unresolved from day 1 of iOS 6.

Thoughts?
 
Just as bonskovsky said.. 6.0.2 was just released and the 6.1 betas have been going on for a while.

Not sure if trolling or completely out of the loop.

Isn't I've in charge of iOS now? Maybe he thinks point releases are just confusing 'clutter' for the end user. Whole numbers only from now on!

Or maybe Forstall deleted the source code when he left? :D

Who knows?
 
6.0.2 was only for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.
6.1 beta 4 is out for a month now; I hope this is a sign of enhanced quality checks.

I've been on iOS 6.1 for a few months now, not THAT much difference from 6.0, just fixes mainly.

iOS7 should be good, they're putting enough effort in.

All the same the hardware race will become trivial over the next few years it'll all become about software again, hopefully Apple have a few tricks we've yet to see. Cook isn't the visionary Jobs was.

No, Ive isn't in charge of iOS; he's in charge of the look/feel of iOS. Craig F. is in charge of iOS and OS X.

6.0.2 is hardly anything to write home about and it was released to fix one single bug.

As for trolling, if you don't like what I've got to say, don't reply.

The fact remains, we've went an unusually long time without a significant bug fix to iOS 6 - much longer than usual.

I'm posturing as to why that is.

iOS 4.0 (June 21, 2010) - 4.1 (September 8, 2010) - 2 1/2 months

iOS 5.0 (October 12, 2011) - 5.1 (March 7, 2012) - Almost 5 months

iOS 6.0 (September 19, 2012) - ?? As of now it's been almost 4 months

So this isn't really anything new, and definitely nothing to be concerned about. I'm not sure I understand your point, then?

The point, it seems, is merely to make another "APPLE iS DEAD/DYING!!!!11!!" type post.

Going by that pattern, it will be 10 Months between 6.0 and 6.1's release!!!
 
Isn't no update good news since Apple doesn't have any bugs on iOS6 to fix? huh huh??
 
With the massive shakeups in the software dept (due to Maps) it's a pretty sure bet that all updates will be delayed while new heads look at the code and bring in their own people to sort out problems. I suspect that the next update will be a little later than normal but not by much. Also Apple has a lot going on right now, this is the most new products they have ever released in such a short time span so testing will be much more difficult.

I didn't say this is exclusive to iOS 6. I've noticed the pattern developing over the years. 4 months to fix simple bugs isn't good enough. Not even close. I say that as one of Apple's most loyal customers.

Irony. I don't remember including capital letters, sarcastic remarks, or indeed exclamation marks in my original, or subsequent, posts.

The attitude from some on this board is appalling these days. It's a discussion board, for exactly that, discussion. Not for intentionally trying to cause arguments.

I hope not! Hopefully ios 7 isnt going to be bastardized so that crappy map app can be made slightly less crappy.

They fixed bugs in 6.0.1 and 6.0.2. You have no idea what they fixed under the hood in either of those updates.
 
I suppose 6.1's list of changes is much tamer than past x.1 releases. My theory is that Apple maybe holding the release for updated iOS device, as it has always been in the past for x.1 release.

Having said that, since iPod touch, iPad, iPad mini, and iPhone have all been updated recently, I hesitate to bet the farm on my theory. Unless Apple is planning on updating them already or on the cusp of releasing cheaper iPhone model for international and/or prepaid market.

I really hope its because iOS 7 is going to be mind-blowing but I have no idea honestly.
 
They are probably going to add another language to Siri and have this as a big feature for 6.1. Similar to last year with Japan (Japanese).

I am guessing Brazil (Portuguese) and maybe Portugal (Portuguese) is comming for 6.1. Less likely even Netherlands (Dutch) and Belgium (French, Dutch) but probably they will keep dutch for 7.0 along with few nordic languages and maybe russian.

And you keep ignoring the release of 6.0.1, which fixed some major complaints that people on this board especially were having.

What bugs are you experiencing that you need fixed? I have had 0 bugs since the release of 6.0.1., and now after 6.0.2 my wifi connection was even better. On the 6.1 beta my battery life has also improved significantly (it was already pretty damn good).

So please let us know what bugs you are having that is causing you to implore Apple for a software update.
