whats kept when restoring a jailbroken backup

if i do the following, whats actually kept by the backup excatly?

backup before upgrading in itunes.
upgrade in itunes, losing jailbreak.
jailbreak the new firmware.
restore earlier backup from itunes on new jailbroken firmware? (here: will it restore my non-cydia apps and settings, msgs, pictures, videos, music, layout, etc...? i know it wont restore cydia apps, but i don't care about that as i only have 3-4 anyway!)

i.e. what are actually restored when using a backup from a jailbroken iphone?

So your apps (non cydia) are not saved? or is that saved when you sync it?

im not 100% but i think game data is lost after a restore but i may be wrong

the actual apps will sync with itunes but the progress in the games would be lost i think

Pretty sure if you restore from the backup of you phone, you will have all data for your apps from that sync. If you restore as a new phone, you'll lose your app data. I restored my new iPhone from a backup of my iPad and my phone had the progress in all my games from the iPad.

If I am JB and I upgrade to the newest update then setup as new then restore from backup, will my JB be completely clear but still retain all of my info?

I would like to know this, too, with iOS 5 right around the corner.
