I'm planning on getting a heart lock necklace from Tiffany's for my girlfriend for Christmas. I can get up to three letters engraved on the back.

My question is, do I just put her initials on it, or put mine on so it's like she's got my heart locked up?
 
or, if you're worried about it, after she opens it, explain that you could get something on it for her.

scratch that...get yours and her initials. she'll melt.

i wrapped a ring for my now wife in one of those bubble gum machine plastic containers and that was inside a massive box with a brick in it :) she had no clue :)
 
I have another idea, though Jaffa's is better!

Do you have something you always say to her? It can be something endearing or funny. I always signed letters to an old girlfriend of mine "WW". It drove her nuts that she didn't get it. I finally gave her my copy of Dan Brown's Deception Point in which a character used that gag. It kind of became our little game. I never did get my book back after we broke up....

My wife and I have a number of "inside jokes" that we can just toss out a punch line and privately share a chuckle while everyone else looks at us weird. A couple would fit nicely as a three letter abbreviation...
 
I'd go with soemthing you could re-use should you ever break up and she throws it at you. :cool:
 
This has nothing to do with your gift, but...someone suggested that the best gift for a girl is to give her a niece piece of china from your dishwasher, put some rice on it, tell her it's your lucky rice and if she eats it, she'll save herself from starvation for a few hours...I like it!
 
Anything that is shiny or smells good is an instant winner with a girlfriend, personalising it is even better.

IMHO I would put her initials on it, either way I think she'll love it :cool:

I'd go with ILY...I love you...because then if you were to break up you could still give it to anyone else

Although it could quite easily scare off the new person I reckon.

Heeey, you could try using it to let someone know you like them though.
