It takes over 5 minutes to do this. I realize on activity monitor that it's receiving data over the internet, so the time depends on internet speed. But why would it need a connection to the internet for so long? Doesn't it just need to check the version of the OS and each application on my computer and compare that to the current version numbers held by apple on a server? What is it doing? It seems like a waste of time.
