The Apple Store
Hello,
I just picked up my 2013 2.8/16/768 replacement for a 2012 2.7/16/768 from the apple store, and I notice this, at first I thought that it would just come off, but that appears not to be the case, can anyone tell me what this is, even alcohol can't get it off?

some sort of red circle?:D

edit - i see i'm not the first jackass to pop in ;-p

lol...Gotta love the sarcasm!

@ the OP...

I'd chalk that up as either oil from when the machine was manufactured, or a blemish in the metal...Either one is going to drive you nuts and anything you try wont work to take it off. I had the same issue on my 1st iphone 5! No matter what I tried I couldn't get it off, so I just ended up replacing it because even though a case would be on it, I knew it was there and was going to bother me. Also IMO stuff like that affects the resale of the device down the road.

Do you have the choice to exchange it? That is if it bothers you that much.

Yup, just a flaw in the metal.

It really isn't a big deal though - does it bother you that much?
It does bother me, looks like a water mark that dries on.

looks normal… apple replaced it ?!
Apple wouldn't replace for just that, the one they gave me also has IR as well as a dead pixel, and its not normal, i used an iPad camera to take this, might need to try with my DSLR

It really isnt a big deal. You could betch and try to get a new one and end up looking like a super douche over an almost invisible spot.

But i would too. I will see nothing but that for the life of the computer. Plus think about resale. I had someone complain about every little imperfection on one i just sold. And let me tell you i dont think he missed one scratch, even found a few i didnt know about. :p

uhhhh man, that's a bummer! So these 3 issues and you can't get a replacement? No way, march back in there and speak to a store Manager. This is Apple, one of the richest companies on the face of the planet that happens to have very good customer service. Speak to a Mgr and show them the issues and I'm sure with a little honey you'll attract some bee's and be able to get it replaced.

Looks like a mark left by corrosion due to the salt on the surface. Sweat leaves little marks like that from my experience. But if it's new, get it exchanged. Or get a palm rest cover.

You can look for issues in every single MacBook you get. Get this replaced, and given your post history - I bet you every penny I own that you will find a defect in it.

I'd suggest you do Apple and their shareholders a favour and never buy another one of their products.
