I've never owned an iPhone before and have always leaned toward the white, so I preordered a white iPhone 5 this morning. But I'm reading more and more people saying they much prefer black over white this time; why is that so? What's so good about the black iPhone 5? ;)

Personal preference or insecurity (some claim that white is for women only and won't buy a white device as a result).

I ordered a white unit this time around.

I'm a woman, ordered black. I just think it looks a little sleeker. I am going to put a pink case on it though ;)

Black is definitely very sleek. Only reason I never ordered white is dirt/debris getting stuck between the home button and between the glass and edge of the phone making it easier to see.

other than being white?

lol, I kid. I tried a white 3GS for a little while. Wasn't for me.

For me it was the slate band and back. the white one looks more similar to the 4 and 4s which ive owned both.

I Dont know, to me the white one looks way to similar to previous gen, the silver looks kinda like the gold on last gen, but the slate on the black one looks pretty sweet

the silver looks pretty awful in comparison to the slate. i am really sad, because i only buy white apple products for the most part.

so much nicer.

Had a white 3g and white 4S. Far prefer white, until the 5. I like the slate aluminum back on the black one.

A bit different because that only had a white back.

I didn't go for the white IPhone 4 due to the sensors around the ear piece/top of screen being more prominent. For me it ruined the sleekness and design of the phone.

However, I love the white iPhone 5.

only problem I've had with the white is that if you drop or wear the edges, it will absorb denim bleed, so I have a smurfed up white iphone since I wear raw denim. But magic eraser will clean it right up.

The slate aluminum makes is much different than the last two generations and people like others to immediately know they have the latest and greatest. Personally I liked the look of the white and silver better (although I do like the black and slate too) so I ordered that. To each their own.

Yeah it just comes down to personal preference. You really can't go wrong, just get which looks best to you. I have a white 4S and white 3rd gen iPad, but opted for a black iPhone 5 because I like the black and gunmetal combination.

I like both but went with the white. I like the white a bit better and it doesn't show scratches or fingerprints.

I think the black top and bottom bezel fade away more easily and distract less from the screen.

Usually buy white Apple products, but this time around, the black is just badass. White looks good as well, but really, its the slate that got me. ;)

It's just preference of course.

Not so sure on white being "girly." Is that really a thing?

Nothing's wrong with white. I have a iPhone 4S in white but chose black for the iPhone 5 cause I like that the band is black.

Never had a white iPhone, went white this time with the wife getting a black iPhone.

I had a white S3 and really liked it. Looked very clean
