What phone? I've not had a problem with cheap knockoffs from Amazon for the 30-pin connector, they all fit my cases just fine.

Don't have experience with Lightning knockoffs, haven't tried one. But I thought the cables were all pretty similar (there just aren't that many, yet), and some cases were not made well to fit even the Apple cables. Apple's cables fit with my case.

How can you get a longer charger? Do you mean longer sync cable? Just get a usb extension from ebay. They cost about $2 and work great.
