I'll be upgrading my 3G to 4, and would like to know if there are any advantages of pre-ordering on Apple's site over AT&T's. If it makes any difference, I'll be ordering the black color 16GB model.

What the hell difference were you expecting? Some promotional coupon code if you order through AT&T?

the only thing I can even see is that apple might be able to guarantee to have more iphones to have shipped for the 24th and with att there might be a chance you will have to wait.

I'm ordering from Apple.com but taking it to an AT&T store if something goes wrong during activation. I trust Apple to be more on the ball in terms of getting things delivered on time, but I know AT&T can resolve more issues related to your account.

Last year it wouldn't let me order through Apple.com only reserve. I placed on order online with AT&T with no problems.

Hopefully apple.com works for me tomorrow because it sounds like AT&T is in store preparers only from what I've read.

Apple.com has been subtly designed to subconsciously arouse you to a slight degree. It's all Steve works on these days. A lot of work goes into that.

Whether you consider this a side benefit or the main benefit is entirely up to you.

It's the main reason they don't allow porn apps in the app store. They're afraid they'll detract from Apple.com and people will buy less Macs.

Price Difference on Voice Plans

Has anyone else noticed that there is a price difference between the voice plans that apple offers through their checkout system and the ones listed on AT&T's website. I just checked and for a family plan with 1400 minutes the cost on Apples website is $119.99 (cost for 2 lines) and on AT&T's website the 1400 minute family plan is 89.99 for 2 lines. Am I missing something?

Yep. I mean, hopefully it won't change the actual voice plan, but if it does you can always change it back.

oh another question while i didn't forget: what are they charging for the activation of the new contract?

....but I thought AT&T iPhones were built in China by Foxes and Steve Jobs hand assembled all Apple iPhones in his garage.

According to an Apple rep through Live chat, they are fixing this. Hopefully they do soon.

Can you go up and down in price plans? Can I order a 700 FamilyTalk through Apple, then have AT&T drop it to 550 with no ill effects?
