What's the best/easiest app/program to download youtube videos?

Safari has a built-in video grabber that usually works (sometimes not though I think... ), so once you grab it and it's in .flv format, you can either use VLC player or a converter. I use Kigo:

And I just converted it into mp4, should hopefully work on my ipod. It keeps the audio good unlike other programs.

I use the Firefox extension called "Easy YouTube Video Downloader" - it's free, SUPER easy, and has many options.

Download as: FLV, 3GP, MP4, MP3

Yes, some of them are audio file types - they just take the audio from the video!

Real Player Downloder. It automatically recognises downloadable videos on ANY website, and saves them with the correct name, rather than a generic video.flv name.

I just look for the largest files in Safari's Activity window and copy / paste the URL into the Downloads window.

I convert using iFlicks to get it into iTunes and our Apple TVs.
