Hi,
I'm a bit of a novice with raid cards. i have a mac pro 2008 model, and am using it for music production. i want to get a card so i can run RAID 5 against 4 internal 1TB drives.
I've seen that apple sell a card for £560 but also I've noticed people here mentioning caldigit, alothough that seems to be a no no.
i've also heard of Areca or ProAVIO.
Thay all seem to be the around the 500 mark.

Any advise on what to get???
Cheers.

bump...

any advise at all.. i'm thinking of going for the apple one...

thanks in advance..

cheers for the advise.

i'm thinking RAID 0+1 with 4 1 TB drives using the mac raid card.

Are the reported problems with the battery on the Apple RAID card that widespread?

downtime...

not really. the last thing i want is downtime, hence the reason i'm going for RAID in the first place, and mac's in general :)
