Totally depends on your country.... Its likely we'll be able to unlock ours straight away in the UK - it was the same for the 3GS, once we had multi-carriers you're obviously still committed to the contract payments but you can unlock all iPhones

I'm planning to Buy a 'pay as you go' Iphone 4 from O2, then pay £15 to get it unlocked.

I have also heard T-Mobile uk is planning to launch the Iphone 4 this year. not sure how true this is.

yeah i mean buying online from the countries that will have the unlocked version on the first day like Germany or France.
