I've got a Maxtor OneTouch III, triple interface, external hard drive who's 500GB drive has just failed. This is an awesome enclosure, built like a tank and I'd like to stick another drive in it. It's a SATA drive and the largest size they were available in was 750GB. Is there a cap on what's the largest drive I can stick in this enclosure and, if so, how do I figure out what it is?
BTW....
I tried asking this question of Seagate's tech support via email since they now own Maxtor and have pages of info detailing this exact drive, on their site. Here's what I got back from them:
Thank you for sending your Seagate E-mail inquiry. Unforutnately tthis is not something that we support so I am unable to provide you with any help on this issue. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

Me:
You're joking. Nobody there knows the answer to this question?
Seagate Tech:
Unfortunately no one here is gonna have the answer to that since we don't support opening the enclosure and swapping out the drive.

Jared J.
