I just saw the new ones released yesterday, and im pretty disappointed. They are extremely expensive in the UK o_O :( I was hoping to convert to apple today! :( Whats the chances of the macbooks being updated again any time soon ? i checked the buyer guide and apparently they update at the start of the year and end of the year:

"Recent Releases

should i just wait till the start of 2009 ? perhaps an update then and hopefully lower prices ?

I would say possibly a processor bump next year, but no chance of a redesign until the end of 09, and even then its very unlikely (they kept the previous black/white macbook design for a long time, just upgraded the components)

Wow. I always wondered how long after an update that these questions started up again. I certainly didn't think it was the day after! ;)

I think it is pretty obvious that Apple's manufacturing costs for the new generation of Macbook has gone up significantly. If there is a refresh of the line at the beginning of the year, it will likely be a minor speed bump and you will NOT see a reduction in price.

Apple's economy laptop is now/still the white plastic Macbook. Now $100 cheaper. If you want to go Mac and are cost-conscious...this and the refurb store are your options.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

LOL thread of the week here. They will drop prices of sales are flat.

Wild guess: mid-2009, before Snow Leopard's release, which would make it about 8 months from yesterday's revision.

I like guessing ;).

Seriously though, I wouldn't expect Apple to suddenly start selling cheap laptops. So if that is your priority, don't get your hopes up.

Don't get your hopes up for a price drop. Actually, lowering the price of the white MacBook already makes this the first time Apple has lowered Mac prices in a very long time.

Of course at some point there will be a speed bump etc. but nothing major.
