Seeing as it seems that wearing a mask in public won’t be going away any time soon, im asking the wide range of individuals in the forum near and far what is the coolest/best mask either you have worn or have seen others wear?

I wear a new medical cliche blue mask and I don’t mind it but do get admittedly upset when one string randomly rips off and I either gotta staple it back on or hope I have a spare in my car (which i usually do.)

The coolest masks I’ve seen are the classic cowboy bandit type bandanas that I see people wearing. I’m sure they don’t protect as well as the blue medical masks in sporting but still, they look badass.

I even saw some FX artist designer went as far as designing his own where it Looks like he’s shoved some filter in his mouth (I’ll post a photo below).

Just wondering since I’m feeling we may as well make it our own into a fashion piece.

I know some people wear BLM on theirs and even saw a Trump 2020 one. So ppl are indeed individualizing them and wonder either which you guys are wearing, but more importantly* which look the coolest.

*i know most important of all is which mask keeps you safest, but that’s for a different thread I suppose.

I prefer the blue mask as I like to think of this as a temporary medical device that we can all just throw out and forget about when this thing is over.

I don't know if my niece used the wrong cloth or something, but she presented my family with masks she had made and they were pretty hard to breathe through.

The masks we made were a pattern from St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids IA. Fits snugly, two layers of fabric with a pocket for a replacement filter. We use a tight weave cotton fabric. Easy to breathe through.

I'm looking at the wide variety of styles offered at Etsy, Amazon and eBay and Im digging them all, wanting to buy each one to sample. A few weeks ago I saw this woman wearing one that aside from it having a structured/contoured nose covering, it was made of like cashmere or something and it made her look ridiculously professional considering it matched her outfit. It was hot. lol.

The least cool ones I see are the disposable blue ones littering the countryside near where I live. What is it with people who just dump stuff? I read if our use of PPE continues at this rate there will be more masks in the sea than jellyfish.
But yes masks warn around the chin of below the nose are uncool to.
I tend to wear the ones you pull over your head like a tube. I have one in camouflage, black and green.

I agree with EVERYTHING you said.

Worse than one worn below the chin? I have a beard so standard masks aren’t effective either.
Potentially, in the sense that it seems the material doesn't seem to stop droplets and can even divide them up into smaller ones that can potentially disperse even more than regular ones.

Mine is the coolest. It's made with solid yellow material, then I drew the :) on it. (just the smile, it uses my eyes to complete the face) People can't see my mouth, so I created what's under the mask on the mask.

Went to pick up some takeout at the local (real) Mexican restaurant , and the girl behind the counter had a 'Day of the Dead' mask .

I have some Alexander Henry fabrics from their Day of the Dead collection, was thinking to pick a few of them and make myself a couple masks... then realized it's not likely everyone from this piece of the boondocks actually knows of that particular holiday and so might take it wrong... so I've moved on in my leisurely hunt for something more entertaining than disposable blue paper for a mask.

Lately I've been thinking about the naturally masked look that some birds have. This little guy is pretty sporty. He's a white-crested laughing thrush, so named for a sociable chuckle in its repertory of calls.

I’m regards to design I like these as they Can be pulled up over your head & double as face warmers during the bitter cold Winter months.

Not the Camo but the design. Subsequently they are great for scouting/hunting as well so can be repurposed for something actually useful after this nonsense is over.

Unfortunately looks like just not that effective for the current purposes (and can even be counter-productive in a sense).

Redbubble has some cool ones. I have one that says "Don't Panic" with the logo from Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy on it.

I wonder how long it'll be before we see mainstream fashion masks? They're already a thing in East Asian cultures because wearing masks even during regular cold season is simply the social norm, it's considered polite. So anyone who knows about Bape (Japanese fashion brand) probably knows they sell face masks and have done for ages.

My idle curiosity is if Western fashion companies will end up doing the same since it looks like even with reduced restrictions, masks are here to stay for a while. I want a Gucci mask 😂
