what's the correct way to take out the SIM card? I used the paper clip thingy
that came with the iPad.... not really sure which way to aim it, but I did manage
to get the SIM card out...

Since AT&T is the only GSM carrier in the US for iPads, I guess I have no need
to take it out.

However, I do travel to EU/Asia quite a bit and always buy local data SIM cards.
The slot seems awfully fragile if I have to take it out and re-insert it more than
a few times....

Straight down into the whole, so that the clip is perpendicular with the phone. Don't try it at an angle as it can break stuff.

OP is not talking about the iPhone.

I just stick the pin in the iPad at the angle which feels correct.

that's what I was afraid of.... I used the paper clip thing that came with the iPad and inserted into the little hole... no angle feels "right" to me.... but I did
eventually get the sim card out. :) Just hope I don't break it because I have
to replace the foreign sim card 2 or 3 times a month.
