What's the difference between Rip and Max (freeware CD rippers)

Rip and Max are open source CD ripping programs, but I can't tell what's significantly different between the 2 besides Max appearing to have more options. Max can rip to many different formats. It's unclear on the website what formats Rip rips to.

What reasons are there to choose one over the other? Or perhaps I could settle for iTunes since I'm certainly no audiophile.
