What's the effect on battery when using MBA to charge iPhone/iPad...?

So if I have my MBA connected to its Magsafe power supply, and then have an iPad connected via USB/30pin to charge, how does that affect the battery health of the MBA? Does it do nothing or hurt it? Shorten its lifespan?

I've always been curious.

no it will be fine. When you mac is plugged in and fully charged it uses the mag safe as its power, not the battery.
