What's the little light(?) on the right of the new books?

This has been bugging me and it'll be another week or two until I can get my hands on one. So, what's the little light (if it is even a light) on the right hand side of the front of the unit?

I thought that was on the side of the machine with all the ports. I'm talking about the front of the machine, on the right side of the front. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

When I watch the movie for the books, they show that indicator, and then the sleep light flashes next to it.
I must be really missing something here..

This light?

The sleep light is actually to the left of what you circled. It's very difficult to see when not illuminated because it's made of VERY small holes in the casing. What you circled is the IR receiver for the Apple Remote/Universal Remote control

The indicator you speak of is the IR receiver.
