I'm wanting to buy a 15" Macbook pro with the following specs:
2.0ghz processor (256MB Vram)
8gb ram
256GB SSD
Glossy display (either 1440 or 1680)
I can build this on apple.com, of course, but it's a bit pricey, and I pay like $225 in tax.
I can order one of the models off of Amazon.com, and not pay tax, and probably save a lot of money, but I'd then have to manually upgrade stuff.
I'm wondering... is this the smarter way to go? My concern is #1 getting ram and SSD that will be as compatible as what Apple uses, and #2, getting an SSD that will have OSX native TRIM support. I know there is a hack out now that enables TRIM on aftermarket SSD drives, but I don't want a hack; I need a stable machine.
Is it possible to buy (aftermarket) the same 256GB SSD that Apple uses, such that native OSX TRIM support is enabled?
