I remember, in late '80s and early '90s, 7 Up was a very popular soft drink in US... perhaps around the world as well. But, no one seems to drink 7 Up nowadays. What has happened to the brand?

It's not made by The Coca-Cola Company like Sprite is. At least in here, all popular soft drinks except Pepsi is made by Coca-Cola.

Isn't it obvious? People remembered how awesome Dr. Pepper is! I love when I'm ahead of the pack.

Because they won't sell me Cherry 7-up.

Seriously, I love that drink but I can't find it for sale anywhere :(

Used to love the stuff as a kid. I still go for it when I run out of Coke, but it's not that pleasant anymore.

Also, I never actually twigged that cool spot had anything to do with 7-up. I thought he was some kind of virgin related mascot.

I loved those games as a kid.

7up still seems pretty popular in the UK. Every shop seems to sell it, most of them even sell the cherry version (good stuff).

I've never seen the cherry version, or even heard about it until this thread, but yeah you can still get 7UP from most places in the UK. I often choose between it and Sprite. Sprite IS good though.

I'm probably just not very observant, but do they still sell Lilt? I used to love that as a kid. It was "totally tropical" :D

They sure do! I can get it from my college!

Where!? I can never find it!

Mostly I've been drinking Barr Raspberry-ade. It's 37p a can and utterly delicious.

I loved 7-Up as a kid in the 70s. No longer drink soda, flavored seltzers with no calories or chemicals for me.

I feel like soda drinking in general has gone down hill, but it could just be among people I surround myself with.

As a kid, whenever I had a stomach ache my mom would give me a little 7-Up to drink (clear liquids, ya know). So now I tend to associate 7-Up with having an upset stomach so that's why I don't drink it :p

7Up is alive and well. I see people drink it wherever Dr. Pepper/7Up products are sold.

Besides, 7Up still makes a much better cocktail than Sprite or Sierra Mist, IMO.
