What's the right cable to buy for my Macbook Pro?

I actually have a cable I do this with but it's not officially Apple, I got it for a few dollars from ebay and it works but lately it's been really faulty (having to plug it in over and over until the screen finally goes onto the TV).

Mine is the Macbook Pro 10.6.8 version and I've had it for 52 months - over 4 years now. Is their a specific one I need?

Your Mac should have a mini display port, so assuming your TV has HDMI, you would want this adaptor.
