Whats this about Brazil and Microsoft?

In a lecture today one of the speakers (who was oh-so clearly an Apple fan) said that Brazil are banning Microsoft. I think i heard about this a while ago, is it true or just news hype?

heh, she was running along a timeline of key moments in the art/design world. when the page appeared saying 'Apple release their first machine' she sorta clasped her hands and looked up saying "yes! finally!"

They are supposedly trying to ween off MS software and going the open source route. I wish them luck.

I don't know about "banning" Microsoft, but Brazil is the leading Latin American country to push open source and Linux as an alternative. That's a good thing.
