Brand new iPhone 4, this blue triangle on the edge of my status bar won't go away even after a restart. I can't be dead pixels because they wouldn't show up in a screenshot, right?

Any ideas?

Working picture = much more helpful.

I never seen that before very strange, it's definitely not dead pixels.

That's incorrect.

What you're talking about is on the right-hand side of the status bar, between the time and the bluetooth indicator.

OP, I have no idea what your thing is. That's weird!

from one of the posts in that thread....

If you have a background app (since there's multitasking now) that is using location services, the arrow will show up at the top. You can close the app (double click the home button, click and hold on an app in the list, and close it with the minus symbol) and it will go away.

I bet it still shows up.

The best thing I can recommend is a restore and don't restore from backup.

Some of the posters in the apple discussion thread said that going to spotlight and back gets rid of it.

The best thing I can recommend, is to not restore you phone afresh. It's such a minor thing to wipe your phone clean, maybe a certain long absent member would commit overkill like that, but not anyone.

Is this the same thread that said it was the location service notification even though it's in the entirely wrong spot?

Sometimes it's good to wipe the phone and start from clean.

^ Northeast. ;) But isn't there something similar like this on your shot on the upper right?

I fixed it as you were posting. ;) I was going from memory.

And were you talking to me about the top right? What am I missing?

I think they mean the small black dots (pixels, really) in each corner.

Those are there because the corners of the screen cap image are slightly rounded, but the jpg is square, so it's filling in the rounded areas with black. That's all.

The blue corner for the OP is weird. Seems like it's something that's 'stuck', because it's giving off a drop shadow.

I tend to think that this is an iOS issue, which would only be solved by a full restore. But even then, it might not solve it.

Kenbrinkman, no matter what app, or screen on your phone, this is always appearing? Do you have a flashlight app, where it can make the entire screen white? Or even a video to play? Does it still appear then, or just on the status bar?

Now you see it, now you don't.

I just noticed it on my iPhone 4 this morning. As suggested, I went into Searchlight and it disappeared when I started typing a search phrase. Still no idea what it was, though.
