What's up with my Mail App?

My Mail app has stopped showing me when I have new mail via the dock icon. Also when reading my mail I get these huge gaps in the envelope information area, picture attached. This is on every email and some gaps are bigger than others. What's going on?

Does it do this all the time? Even after quitting and re-launching?

Hm... Probably won't help really, but try running this in Terminal (QUIT mail FIRST!):

cd ~/Library/Mail
sqlite3 Envelope\ Index
vacuum subjects;

I really dunno what else to say. Sometimes mail.app gets a bit screwy for me, I just deal with it.

Weird, but terminal opens up a tab like shell and wont open up regularly. I'll restart in a bit, but yea, Mail has been like this for a while and I've restarted many of times since this happened.
