What's your method to migrate iPhoto to iCloud Photo

I thought about this method, but there is a slight flaw

Export from iPhoto to a folder
AirDrop all the photos to iPhone
Let it sync

The flaw is that the newly uploaded photos in my phone are considered "new photos" in iPhoto Import. That means I have to pick and chose my actual new photos when I import/backup my photos later on.

Any other ideas?

Wait for the Mac 'Photos' app next year. I will be shocked if it didn't import iPhoto libraries.

Yes, that involves the dreaded "waiting" word that MR folks hate so much, but I'm not going to put hours into solving a problem that will likely cease to be a problem sometime next year.
