I'm curious what folks are using as ringers and alerts. Here's what I'm using. I don't change much.

Ringtone (for contacts): Scotland the Brave. Unique, kinda loud, definitely gets my attention.
Ringtone (for unknowns): Silence. Sure, I could have recorded 30 seconds of silence, converted it to m4r format, and imported it into my ringtones folder. But I paid $1.29 to buy it and have it immediately available. Go ahead. Chide me - I deserve it.

Alert Tone for Email: "There is a message for you." HAL's voice From 2001 - A Space Oddyssy.

Alert for Voicemail: Tri-Tone, an Apple default. Because I really don't care about voicemails. I'll get to it when I get to it.

Alert for Text: StarTrek TNG doorbell. Unobtrusive, more of a gentle prod than a klaxon.

Alert for Text from Co-Workers: Nextel Chirp. Remember that one? It is obnoxious enough to wake me up if I'm asleep. I get emergency messages at all hours if somebody calls out and they need me to fill in. The downside to being a jack-of-all-trades, but it adds job security. My basic shift is 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, but the FedEx morning shift starts at 3:00 AM. The switcher (guy who moves the trailers to/from loading dock doors) starts at 2:00 AM. Since I'm switcher-qualified I get the call when the primary switcher bangs out. And I'm only 15 minutes from work. I sometimes get called in around noon if there is a computer problem as I'm the default alpha geek. Power outages play hob with the network, so when we have an outage and the network doesn't come back on its own, I get a text.

I have special ringtones for my wife (Crazy Train), my son (Theme from Austin Powers), and my daughter (Psycho Social by Slipknot).

My wife actually loved that I used Crazy Train for her. "And don't you forget it!!" She liked it so much she had me set it up as her default ringtone on her phone.

My late mother in law's ringtone was El Deguello, the song Santa Ana played at the Alamo the night before he attacked. Just a lonely trumpet piece that signified No Mercy. That replaced her previous ringtone, the theme from The Exorcist.

my iPhone is on silence mode 24/7 and I only have haptic alerts on my watch for phone calls and messages.

I've got a bunch of old BlackBerry text tones, just for nostalgia. That was my favorite era of cellphones.

I use the Radetsky March and my wife uses a German Shepherd barking.
Hers creates a problem as we have a German Shepherd in the house.

Not currently using them, but I have a collection of old sidekick 2 tones :D

Right now my ringtone is Hollow by LeBrock and I just use the standard Note tone for texts.

My current ringtone, and it's been this track for ages now, is the Horse Race theme from The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. If stress ever had a soundtrack, you can bet this would be on it.

I do change my ringtone for the months of October and December however. In October it switches to the song Partytime by 45 Grave. In December, it switches to The Mummer's Song by Simani.

Text Tone: Glass

Phone call: T-Mobile Jingle

Email: New mail sound from Microsoft Outlook.

Alarm: Bells.

With the exception of the T-Mobile jingle, the tones I name above have been used on all my phones since 2009. The text tone comes from the 2009 HTC Touch Pro and the alarm (Bells) comes from a Windows 6.1 Pro alarm app which I used on the Touch Pro.

I have certain sounds I like to keep.

Phone: Attack on Titan - YouSeeBIGGIRL
Text: Steins;Gate - Tu Tu Ru
Outlook: Glossy
Sleep alarm: First Light
Other wake alarm: Ultima VII - Conversation with Gwenno
Timer: Hillside

I have a fair few songs and dialogue clipped that I cycle through for phone and text, other times I just leave my phone on silent.

I wish iOS would let you change the standard Tri Tone for most apps, would be nice to know which apps you can give immediate attention to. A while back had my card details stolen and my bank app was going off with random chargers. Took quick action to block the card because my phone was already in front of me. If it was off to the side I probably would have assumed it was another app and ignored it for a bit.

I have a Watch and use haptic alerts to notify me, but the phone will still rings for calls given how Apple has defined the system, which is not what I want. I didn’t want my phone to be in silent mode all the time, however, because I like keyboard clicks when typing. So instead, I used Garage Band to create a few seconds of silence and use that as my ringtone.

Ringtone - Samsung Tic Tac
SMS - Nextel incoming chirp
Voicemail - Motorola MODAT
New Mail. - Outlook New Mail
Alerts. - HTC Beeps
Alarms. - United Center goal horn

Ringtone is "Maggie's Farm" by Dylan. Always gets smiles of approval if there are any folks with taste nearby.
