Whatsapp + Israel

Hi, I am located in Toronto and use the app Whatsapp.

As users know, in your contact book, friends that use it, since it works on their actual phone number, rather than a Pin number as Black Berry Messenger works, your friends using it will show up as so.

I am having great difficulties trying to get an Israeli friend to show up on mine.
I have the right phone number but i am unable to get any information as to whether it just does not work in Israel?

I cant get it to enter the app as a contact yet I can dial him in Israel at it so i DO KNOW it works and is the right number.

Is there anyone here that has any Israeli contacts and can verify that it does actually work in that country?

Make sure the Country code is correct. Which I'm sure you did. I know a few Countries are not supported. Perhaps Israel could be one of them? I'm not sure but you could probably find out on the FAQ on their website.

I'm living in Israel and almost all of my friends are using WhatsApp and it works for them.
That's weird you're having this issue but as the guy above me said. It can be the Country Code. If i'm not wrong. If his number is for example: 054838666
You should type +97254838666
But I never used WhatsApp so I really can't know how it actually works.

Hmmm........that was going to be my next question although i was pretty sure i was using the right code

i have him down as 972-5x39x69xx (obviously dont wish to type his full number there so from the last post it would seem that it is correct )


ok.......so far i am not seeing what the problem might be then.....obviously Israel is not blocked...........as the first poster guessed.....I was wondering the same.................



it wouldnt be as simple as my leaving out a + sign would it? ( goes to check )

already posted the fix....it was the missing + number I didnt have before the number

Glad you figured it out. It's annoying how you have to enter that code exactly or it doesn't work.

i am forever astounded at the "rules" that can never be broken in forums
the best one i have seen yet is a rule that never allows a second nick to one person or u will be banned for life
but if the first nick cannot access a forum and its apparent the problem is on the forums end and not the person, one cant ever access a forum but if you still dare to take out a second nick that can access a forum, you will be banned

some rules dont make any sense ;-)





In any event thanks again........surprised it was a + sign as its not needed to call Israel but only to send the message on Whatsapp and I will assume its needed for other chats that rely on the phone number. Not sure why that is the case though
