Finally have the opportunity to do this in real life. And it's super easy. Kudos to Apple working this out with Whatsapp.

Main requirement is iOS15 and the latest Whatsapp client. Basically all you need is to install the move to iOS app on the Android. When setting up the new iPhone, pick the option to transfer data from the Android, and the option for whatsapp will simply appear on the move to iOS. Simply check that and follow the instructions, and voila. On the new iPhone, it will download whatsapp from the App store automatically, then after asking permission, the chat history is all there on the iPhone.

Even Google cannot do this on their own Android to Android migration app. Gotta give it to Apple for this one.

But the quick setup allows you to only use one of the options: to move data from android, or restore from iCloud backup. What if I want to restore whatsapp as well as my iCloud backup from old iPhone? Cos’ I had WhatsApp running on a different phone. If I restore the backup after having restored WhatsApp, it will restore the iphone image which did not have WhatsApp and the restore will override the WhatsApp restore. Am I incorrect?
