Hi, Whatsapp Web is a mess on my iMac G5 2.1 GHz and awful to use even though I boxed it up (TenFourFoxBox). It literally takes about 2 minutes to load the main screen and writing messages is so slow that the sentences I wrote appear like 30 seconds later, i.e. I can watch letter after letter showing up with a considerable delay. On G4 systems (even the higher tier models like the DLSD), as expected, it is way worse ...

Does anyone of you have an alternative in mind or how to speed WW up? Telegram Web works totally fine BTW.

Checked boxed-WAweb on my PB-G4 too and I didn't even got it working at all! (Last I was using it, boxed-WAweb ran decently, but I've used that more than half a year ago)
Seems, like the next web/cloud-based-service is gone for PPC.
Stupid stuff.
So a modern smartphone will be the mandatory companion side-by-side with PPC to achieve connectivity and file-transfer between Cloud<>Phone<FTP/SFTP/SMB/AFP>PPC.
As for WA messenger: a phone running WA is mandatory for the WAweb to work anyway, so IMHO having no more WAweb on PPC is only a minor loss ...
Thank for telling, Telegram is still an option!

Typing messages is still much more comfortable on a larger keyboard IMHO, so having WAweb and being able to keep the phone stashed away is a plus.

You can't actually stash your phone away. It needs to be awake and connected to the web for WAweb to work.

Agreed. I prefer by far the functionality offered by using WAweb within Mac OS than on my phone.
That is, what I typically use to do too - on machines, than can still handle WAweb properly.
I think, on the long run WAweb on PPC is unfortunately a lost cause - same as with the hacked Dropbox-Clint.
Too bad! :(

I can lock my phone's screen and put it away after logging on to WAweb as long as it stays connected to the web. That's what I meant.

Don't lose hope just yet: you might end up being pleasantly surprised by some of the resourceful souls in this forum. :)
What I've learned during the last years is, if possible, to stay away from individual solutions, that piss you off, when the time is coming. Especially, when it comes to sync stuff between Mac and Cloud or Mac and mobile devices ... (Same for Windows - or even worse!)
Dropbox and other Cloud-provider, iPhoto/Aperture, Notability/GoodNotes etc ... WAweb is next in line, even if clever people make clever software-workarounds. It's ends up as a cat&mouse game until the mouse cannot catch up ...
My basics: webDAV for PPC/os9. Smartphone as the mobile hub to connect Cloud and PPC. Keep/archive stuff versatile: PDF, Text-Files, old Office'97-04 file-format, re-organize pictures outside of iFiles/Aperture/Fotos etc.
It would be great do define some common long-term standards for old computers in terms of connectivity, cloud-options and ways to store stuff in a versatile way.

Doesn't work with mine on any OS. If the phone sleeps, then WAweb starts to lose the connection and the yellow warning box appears top left. It seems to work tethered to the phone or not at all.

Strange. With my Sony Xperia E4G I've never had this problem. It remains happily synced to WA whilst locked.

I never used it on PPC but just tried with TenFourFox (not a box) on Leopard , iBook 14" G4 1.5Gzh.

Initial loading after registering the QR code took a bit but writing messages is fluid ?
I think I have the 556fmjoe prefs or well the eyoungren version without all media cutout.

EDIT my friend just sent me a 150Kb photo via WhatsApp as a test, the photo keeps reloading constantly

What Brand is it? Huawei and Honor have a very aggressive background task energy management that results in many broken background tasks, e.g. Exchange Sync or Telegram notifications. Maybe on your phone background activity is reduced by power saver features

iPhone 6s+ on Windows or macOS. I have also tried a Lenovo P2 running Marshmallow with the same results.

Actually, rather than the web, I am using the WA app for Win/Mac. I use it daily.

Does anyone have a solution to use it on powerpc now?
I am playing with user agents but it ends up giving me database error after scanning the qr code.

whatsapp does not working on all browsers ppc anymore. Does anyone have a solution or alternative program?

There is a way to use iChat with FaceBook Messenger (see here in related thread). It does require using a private server though (that is, security concern is there, but tbh you can’t trust Facebook own service either).

whatsapp web switched to being a webassembly thing. so pretty much no chance of it ever working now. my only solution thus far has been to either use my phone or use apple remote desktop to use it remotely on a modern mac (ARD works much much better than other vnc viewers)
