What've your experiences been with SD Card-slot add-on storage for your Mac laptop?

Just trying to hear what SD card storage expansion cards people have got for their newer Macs. I have 512 GB internal storage on my 14", and a few external SSDs, but down the road it might be nice to have a way to store some larger but less critical files on the SD card.

And what have your experiences been like? You like it, hate it, lost data, etc?
 
I join to this question. There are some mixed information, but it seems that most concern people have is about longevity of offline storage on the shelf. Should be fine to keep card powered in SDXC slot.

I am wondering this too. Thinking of keeping my music library on an SD like this. Any disadvantages/speed etc?
