I apologize if this has been asked before...

My closest Apple store is 1.5 hours away. If I wanted to get a replacement for the backlight bleed or any other issue and contacted Apple via phone (or online if available), how does that process work? Would I have to send them the iPad back first? Also, if the new one is as bad or worse, would I be able to request another one, and how many times could I do it before they shut me down (assuming all the replacements are unacceptable)?
