I warned you the same thing would make its way to their accessories. Alas, fine-woven cases have hit the market, and early pictures look as bad as some of us feared.

If Apple Wants to downgrade the luxury and durability of their products in the name of environmentalism (not profit, if we’re being charitable) , that’s fine - more power to them. But if they continue down this track, at some point they’re going to have to stop charging premium prices for degraded products and experiences. Customers tend to notice when more is being charged for less, especially in aggregate.

Addressing the topic itself: I am actually a fan of Apple using less packaging. The iMacs I bought recently came in boxes that weighed more than the iMac! Huge super-durable fancy boxes. WTF?!

The iPhone boxes should be designed to carry an iPhone and nothing more. Honestly I think they should be bulk shipping them to Apple in the US in reusable containers and then the stores would just send back the empty containers or something. The actual phone could just come in a nice felt bag or something. IDK.

Even a plain brown cardboard box would be fine by me. I think the boxes Apple uses right now are totally insane. Kinda fun to open up though!

I liked the one the original stainless steel watches came in, that could charge the watch and looked like a real jewelry box. That was neat. But the same thing kinda applies. Most people that collect jewelry end up witha drawer full of boxes they feel sorry to throw out lol.

When a company offers less value, they should charge less. Customers notice.
some customers notice and care, some notice and don't care, and then there are those who don't care to to begin with.
If this really bothers you, just don't buy Apple products anymore.

I've held on to the boxes my Macs came in, so I have protection when moving, everything else goes into the recycle bin. I sure hope they reduce the packaging to the absolute minimum - protect the product during transport.

And I'd like to see those consumers who buy an Apple product because of the packaging ...
