when are we likely to see 10.5.6 then ? Will it be before the end of 2008 ?

I'm hoping soon. There are a few bugs (fairly minor, but still irritating) I'd like to see squashed. The one that comes to mind at the moment is the sleep bug with new MacBook Pros. And the display port bug too...

Overall 10.5.5 has been a solid for me.

Nope. Mac still sleeps fine during 10.5.4.

I don't even remember when it exactly happened. What I know is it definitely happens after 10.5.5. AFAIK, I didn't install any apps. Fixed permissions, reset PRAM etc and still doesn't fix it.

Is there any particular reason you need 10.5.6 right now?

Yep - my mbp doesn't wake up from sleep correctly + it seems like this is a problem for quite a lot of people... Other than that the current version of Leopard is very stable on my system.

Tried repairing permissions, resetting PRAM and SMC?

BTW, my sleep issue is solved.

I took a look at the activity monitor, and I realise a process "printjobmgr" was in my active process list. Although it takes up only 0.5% of CPU usage, it still bugs me as I didn't have anything printed. Apparently the printjob manager is keeping my mac awake.

Then I realised an old printed material was in the print queue, and once it was deleted, mac went back to sleep as normal.

From my knowledge, there are graphical improvements in terms of auto-detection when you connect the display cable and it's supposedly dealt with the spin up and down noise in the superdrive.

I'm just curious, how would any of that help the issue of putting the notebook to sleep?

By the way, I've never reset the PRAM or SMC on any of my Macs in the past 5 years and I've only repaired the permissions once due to me accidentally changing permissions on some things. I guess I've just been lucky.

From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411

"Over time, the settings in the System Management Controller may become unusable, which can result in operational anomalies with the computer. Examples include not turning on, not waking from sleep, not charging the battery, or not recognizing the AC Adapter, among others."
