As the title says - I'm curious, when you use a polishing wipe or chemical to buff out scratches on the AW SS models, do you take some precautions to cover the screen, buttons, etc? Or is the material less abrasive on those surfaces (obviously taking care to avoid them as best as possible). If you do cover - how?

I am interested to know this as well. My S5 SS silver is showing some scratches and would like to buff them out. I saw some YT videos and they didn't cover the face, but want to see what owners are doing here.

I don’t cover the face, I’m just careful not to rub it with the cloth - to be safe.

Never had an issue as yet 👍

You should be fine without it covered. But be sure to have a towel or microfiber cloth handy, the watch will get slippery until you wipe the chemicals off. But the shine will make it look good as new.

I have never polished a silver watch, mainly because I’m too afraid I’ll damage the screen or the oleophobic coating. But couldn’t you use some blue painter’s tape to cover the screen pretty easily? Seems like a cheap and easy way to get some extra peace of mind if you are going to attempt this.

I regularly do it with Cape Cod. As long as you do not really rub on the face, you are fine. Just pay attention a bit.
Clean everything with a microfiber cloth and you are done. It will become as shiny as new.
