When did iphone start showing the multiple person icon in texts?

Sorry if this is such a silly question. Does anyone know when iphone started showing you via an icon whether an incoming text had come only to you or had been sent to multiple recipients? Thanks!!

ios 4 came out at wwdc last year. it was june 7th
