I switched in the 90s my first Mac was a Performa it was as good as they said they would but there were not selling good because Microsft bullied the computer market

I never switched. I still use both equally, but have been doing so since OS8 in school.

The majority (time frame wise) of my time breaks down between Windows ME and early OS10. Guess which I preferred more.

since i've always used macs, i'll write when i switched to mac os x. my g3 ibook came with both os 9 and mac x (10.0). it was a little too rough around the edges, so i didn't fully switch over until 10.1 in early 2002.

I switched from an Atari STE 1024 to a PowerMac 7500 in the mid 90s. But had been using Macs regularly since 1989.

never thought of myself as a switcher. I started using Apples with the II and bought one of the original Powerbooks with OS2. I stopped buying Macs at OS8.6 due to aging OS combined with inferior hardware then started again with OSX10.1 in 2002. I've been with Apple from when it was the best to the worst and back again:apple:

as it says in my sig..... ;) :D

I still have my original Mac Plus btw - aaaand it still works!

I've been on the Mac OS exclusively since Mac OS 8.5. I think it's been more than 9 years now.
Started out on Windows 95 and went to 98 and I walked the plank from Windows. Thank heaven there was a way out of the stupid retarded Windows Registry, it's called the Mac OS :D

2003. Just after Panther came out. I had used Puma and Jaguar but couldn't bring myself to switch until the iBook G4 came out and was as affordable as an Intel laptop capable of running Linux well. I wouldn't ever have switched until OS X though. I remember back in 2000 when I saw a pre-release of OS X on an Apple stand at a conference and I asked them to open a terminal. Once I found it was a real UNIX I said "finally, a Mac that is easy to use!" I would have switched immediately but the price of the hardware was a deterrent at the time. Today, not so much. Macs are better value than PCs IMHO.

i always dreamed of having an apple computer, and in mid 2006, we were having ALOT of trouble with our pc, we already needed to buy a new hdd, the former one gave up, i was sooo slow, i took 5 min to start up, and it didn't run any hard programs, only internet and itunes and msn... we had ALOT of trouble with our anti-virus, so i said i want an imac, i got one, and after some months my parents also got one :p

I started with a Mac and never went to Windows. My first computer was a Macintosh LC back around 1990, and I've been a Mac user since then.

I switched in August 2005 to Tiger. I made the switch as soon as I saw the new iMac with a built-in iSight. Unfortunately about 2 months later, it was then switched to Intel. Oh well, I'm still happy with it.

Before I switched to the Mac, I had been wanting to for a long time. In around 2000, I seen an iMac in a store (can't remember which store) and fell in love with it's design. This got me curious, so I bought an issue of Mac Addict. I believe this was in around January of 2001 or so. I still have that magazine, too. :)

We were very short on cash at the time. I was only 16 or 17 at the time and partied with what money I did have, so I ended up just getting someone's home-built PC for cheap when my Compaq died.

Fast-forward to around October, 2003. I finally had the money to buy a Mac, but my friend convinced me to buy a PC and since I'd never actually USED a Mac (except in school when I was in like 1st grade) I went ahead and bought another PC, this one being another home-built PC. After having a BUNCH of issues with that one, I finally decided to just go ahead and get a Mac after only having that PC a little over a year. Got my first Mac, an eMac, on December 9th, 2004 and have had many different Macs (and even a couple PC's) since then and all I can say after all is that I don't see myself EVER switching back to Windows. Put me on a Windows machine and I'm in unfamiliar territory, despite being a long-time PC user before 2004.

So yeah, been a Mac user for almost 3 years to the day and I don't see myself EVER going back.

1995, PowerMac 8500 120 Mhz, it was the first computer that was MY computer and not a family computer I was sharing, which was an MS-DOS / Windows 3.1 machine.

Very new to mac

October 2007. I lurked on this forum for months and finally bought a 24" iMac from another macrumors member. Best thing I could have done.
