When do Apple take payment?

Do they take payment when it's despatched or when it's arrived or before?

When the item is shipped.

When it lands in the destination country. Mine has been travelling around Europe but landed in the UK overnight. I also had a text from my bank saying the payment had been taken.

I was wondering the same. So when a load of money leaves my account I'll know it is near!
