I haven't upgraded phones in a long time since I buy them outright and while I know the expected cycle with other products, I've never really paid attention to price changes iphones.

So when they launch a new model in X month, do they drop by a hundred bucks 3 months later? 6 months? Or is it going to be right at that price up until they're launching the next years model? Just budgeting ahead for this fall/winter/spring as my battery life has gotten so bad my phone is almost useless...

From 3rd party a price drop is happening all the time. E.g. 11pro cost now 200€ less.

from apple 100€ less for the former model at the day of the new release. But only if it’s not discontinued like the x and xs. But here again 3rd party keeps selling them still now for 600€ less

Just released Apple iPhones tend to go on sale within 4-6 months, by a couple hundred dollar

Then there’s sales that come within carriers for the US residents that have specials like buy one get one free, even if the iPhone has just been released. Talking about (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile) etc

Could there also be more sales but this is what I have seen so far

Everything above is pretty much it. I’ve noticed the “bogos” and “trade and saves” usually happen around release, and 4-6 months after to ramp up mid cycle sales.

If you aren’t concerned with having the latest and greatest you can also find last year’s models at a significant discount. I just bought a iPhone XS 512GB for $849 from T-Mobile. That’s the same price as a 256GB iPhone 11 retail. Once the 12 series is released, the 11 series will drop significantly around Jan or Feb with carriers (US based).

Especially this year due to the pandemic, carriers have slashed prices ‘all over the board‘. I think partially to keep business flowing and they realize financially smart phones will be the last priority to upgrade in terms of conservation for money from a consumer standpoint. So I think there will be a lot of huge deals in the next two months to clear inventory for the new iPhone(s).
