This is the first day after the first night of using my watch while I sleep. I just got an alarm that it is low on power. Its close to my bed time and I've put it on the charger but I doubt if it will be charged before I go to bed.

So what happened. I have the "Charging Reminder" set in my settings. I would assume it would trigger and say "Hey! its time to start charging your watch" but it didn't.

How is it suppose to work?

I've gotten it once so far. Unfortunately I didn't pay much attention to it at the time, and just placed the watch on its stand to charge.

I seem to recall that the reminder came up with the "Wind Down is about to start" notification, while my Watch had less than 20% charge left. I've set Wind Down to start half an hour before bedtime (plenty of time to get the Watch charged sufficiently).

I hae a series 4 which is two years old. I charged mine for more than an hour last night and it went from the point of the alarm which is 10% I think up to about some point. Now this morning it is at 77% (after wearing it at night).

I don't have the Wind Down set. I'll see if that makes a difference.

The book talks about charging "while you get ready for work" but I use my watch to time my meditation, breathing, and a few other things.

I seem to recall reading that, if your Watch has 30% charge or less and you are approaching your defined bed time (an hour of it?) you will get a reminder.

Speaking personally I have never had my Watch use more than 15% of charge whilst sleeping (6-7 hrs) so this is a healthy ‘safety’ margin over what you are actually likely to need.

Your reply implies that I'm totally misunderstanding the objective of the Charging Reminders. What I'd like is a prod towards the end of the day to put my watch on charge. Charging it after I get up or during the day would probably be greater cost than the benefit of using it for my sleep.

Obviously I can do this myself with just a normal reminder.

Yes, I believe you are. The charging reminders work like this: If you have sleep tracking turned on and the watch is <30% one hour before you are scheduled to sleep then you will get a notification reminding you to charge your watch. If your watch is >30% one hour before you are scheduled to sleep then you will not get a reminder, even if your watch goes under 30% after that time. The charging reminders are really just a sleep tracking feature to help make sure that your watch doesn’t run out of power during the middle of the night.

If you want a reminder to charge every night then just a normal reminder is what you need.
