When do the old models get discounted?

So I’ve read that WWDC is June 4th to 8th. When is the earliest that the current 2017 models get more serious discounts? I know that the longer I wait, the more it will become discounted. But let’s say I were to jump at the first significant discount, when would this be? Are we talking the couple weeks leading into WWDC or a couple weeks after WWDC? Do retailers start discounting leading up to WWDC in anticipation of the new models? Just want to know what it’s been like in the past years.

They will never get "serious discounts".
They might have the price reduced $100 or so just after the replacement models are introduced.

You me see the best discounts at retailers, not Apple Stores, a month or more after they are also selling the new units.
