When do you think 2.1 will be released?

2.0.1 will be out reasonably soon to fix the initial bugs. 2.1 will go through a series of revisions and improvements, especially to the notification API. I don't think it'll be available till late August at the earliest.
Late August or early September most likely, but I wouldn't be surprised by a 2.0.1 updated within a week or two.
Do you even understand what a beta period is? The beta was just seeded to developers. They need time to TEST the software, report any bugs, allow Apple to fix said bugs, then release another beta to make sure their fixes didn't cause more problems. Rinse, lather, repeat.
It's pointless to even speculate that it might be out in the next week. I'm sure Apple's learned their lesson with 2.0, they're not going to rush 2.1 out the door. Get a grip. Everyone agrees that the problems suck, but no one wants to have more issues crop up. Just be patient.

I hope they release at least a 2.0.1 bug fix version very soon. I am having no end of problems. I have had to restore the iPhone 3 times the past 2 days. 2.0 is really slow. I am considering going back to 1.1.4.

Its extremely technical. So much so that if I explained it, your head would explode.
I would say 2.1 comes out late September or sometime in October. This would make sense since Apple said at WWDC that the upgrade would be out in September.

That link is actually a great reference for people who always forget things like "When did they add the double space period thing?" And it also shows that Apple has been pretty good at not only giving us updates for bug fixes, but feature updates as well (see "September '07 Update" and "January '08 Update".)
