Hopefully, Apple have more industry clout than Dell when it comes to purchasing (especially) LPDDR5x RAM. Although Apple are only #4 in PC market share, the bigger players - HP, Dell, Lenovo's market shares are spread over massive, diverse sprawling ranges of hardware using various tech, whereas Apple only have about 6 distinct models with only 3 different (but still closely related) systems-on-a-chip. I'm guessing they're all using the same "class" of LPDDR5x chiplets (inside that packaging), too. They're not using NVIDIA/AMD GPUs with masses of VRAM either.
Also, hopefully (flap, oink!), since Apple were already charging ludicrous prices for RAM - many times over any plausible bill-of-materials - they'll have a bit of headroom to weather the spike in prices until the AI bubble finally and inevitably bursts.
Early 2026 or mid-2026 with the M5 Pro/Max launches.
It makes no difference Apple is using LPDDR5X or has fewer product lines. Fabs are switching capacity to HBM, which means less wafers available for DDR4 and DDR5.
Lenovo is stockpiling DRAM and they have access to CMXT. If even Lenovo is considering raising prices, it's a matter if when not if for Apple.
