I need to get a laptop soon for school and I want to know when Apples Cram and Jam thing starts where if you buy a laptop and an iPod you get a 250 mail in rebate.

I'm waiting for the same thing. Last year it started around late June. It was called Student Union and you got a free iPod Mini or the money with the purchase of any Mac. The previous two years it was called Cram & Jam and you had to purchase a iBook or Powerbook.
Since I am waiting until late June or early July anyway, I am probably going to wait for the Merom updates in August.
