When dragging items still on desktop!AAArgh!

Hi there,
This is really beginning to bug me now.....when I drag items from my desktop to trash or another location, the item is simply copied to that location leaving the item still on the desktop. How on earth can I click a setting or something where when I drag the item it is taken to the folder or trash whereupon it moves from A >B not A>B>then still on the desktop! This is very frustrating.

Nobody here is looking over your shoulder. You have given absolutely no information about your system or about the mounted network volumes.

All I can say is make sure the Option key isn't being held down at all. It may not be you, but it could be stuck.
