Sporadically when I hit the key to lower the display's brightness level, instead just dimming it one step down it jumps all the way to the lowest setting making it completely dark. I have had my MBP for about 8 months and never had this problem until the last couple days. Does this have to do with the most recent OS X update? Anyone else having this issue??

Was your brightness on one step above the lowest setting when you tried to lower it further? If it was, my iMac behaves exactly the same way - setting the brightness to zero turns the backlight off completely.

If that isn't the case for you, then... I'm not sure what's going on.

Of course not, it is always somewhere close to the top.
