When I go to messages it opens to a black screen..

Its like there is a message open that is trying to load or something but it is all black and I cant go back to the main messages screen. All you can see is the ATT bar at the top and then a gray bar underneath that and then blackness..

Any ideas? I'm sure restarting will help but I wanted to know what caused it.. everything else works fine and i can get out of the messaging by pressing the home button.

Probably running low on system ram.
Are you using a 3G?

My iPhone mail app has crashed like this a number of times. Some kind of bug or memory issue I'd imagine.
