It seems that when I type my speakers make the bonk error noise. The only keys not affected are any key that controls the mbp's functions. Otherwise, all keys that control input of letters, numbers etc make a noise.

Any idea why? I've shut down, restarted etc

Cheers

Sounds like you may have set something in the Universal Access System Preferences.

Yeah I thought it could be something like that but i've checked and it's not.

It is extremely irritating.. if anyone has any clue what it is you have no idea how grateful i'd be to get it fixed :)

Sounds like you have a hidden dialog box open somewhere? That's the only thing that I can think of. Try hitting Command:)apple:) and Tab to see if maybe you can switch to it.

Yeah it's not that either. This is nuts.

I've restarted, shut down, logged out, closed all apps.. everything.

The noise is when you are trying to do something that isn't possible, like switch to expose when you don't have any windows open.

All the letters and numbers do it. Tab does it. Return does it. Backspace does it. Up down left right does it.

Everything else, including shift, doesn't.

Haha thought i fixed it but i'd just muted it!
